XEB 687L was supplied new by Wallis & Son Ltd of Cambridge on 3rd April 1973. The Rover list price for this model at the time was £2285 including car tax and VAT (roughly £26,000 today). The original owner chose not to have the optional power steering. This was available as a factory fitted extra in 1973 for just £75 (£823 today).
The car came into present ownership in September 2021. Being already registered as an historic vehicle meant that she was officially MOT exempt, and had last been tested in 2017.
In March 2023 an advisory free MOT pass was achieved, she passed again in 2024.
Through my membership of the Rover P6 Club, I made contact with the gentleman who had restored the car in 2016/17. He had rescued her from a garden, where she had laid under a sheet, untouched for 15 years!
