Merecedes CLK63 AMG cabrio

Vehicle Reg No: RCR56
Year: 2007

2007 Mercedes CLK 63 AMG cabriolet,

This is to coin a phase a true “Wolf in sheep’s clothing”, the delicate lines of the CLK cabriolet hide the Monstruous 6.2 Litre V8, which hides under the bonnet, with only a small AMG badge on the side and small boot spoiler and badge to differ it from the standard Mercedes CLK

This is one of only 20 cars imported to the UK. The CLK 63 AMG was Mercedes’s flagship that was used as F1’s official safety car from 2006 to 2008

Facts about the car:

• 6.2 litre 32v V8 with 7 speed automatic gearbox. No turbos or superchargers, just raw grunt producing Power 485hp and massive peak torque of 465ft/lb

• Point to note: Each cylinder capacity is larger than the size of a 75cl wine bottle (so that’s 775cc per cylinder)

• 0-62 in 4.5secs with a delimited top speed of 186mph.

Most AMG badged Mercedes are standard Mercedes production cars fitted with tuning Mercedes parts by AMG.

This CLK 63 is different, M156 V8 engine is built and designed by AMG, one man assembles it and puts his name on the rocker cover

The engine has been shoe horned into the slender lines of the CLK. There is no space for twin exhaust pipes as per normal V8s. This due to the back bone monocoque body shell, keeping the CLK lower to the ground than a C class, it has just one large diameter single pipe that gives the monstrous roar when you let loose the go pedal.

Despite being nearly 20 years old, with an original price tag of £79000, the car is equipped with a surprisingly high levels of modern equipment to match cars of today.

• Keyless entry
• Push button Start
• Voice control

Interesting Fact on Convertibles

Mercedes-Benz reckoned that you were just as safe from lightning in a CLK Cabriolet as you were in a coupe, or any car with a metal roof, thanks to the electricity-friendly cage made up by the soft-top frame assembly’s struts, crossmembers and metal mesh
