Austin Healey Mark IIA BJ7

Vehicle Reg No: ASJ557
Year: 1962

This 1962 Austin Healey was exported to Ship and Shore Motors, West Palm Beach in Florida. It was then, as you might expect, a left hand drive export car. Thirty years later, bearing a California plate, the car was re-imported to the UK and went to DJ Groves in Hampshire for a restoration. The process ran over four years with the owner working in the Middle East and returning periodically to write out another cheque. The car was eventually finished for a price and spent the next ten years with the same owner, covering around 5,000 miles and racking up a substantial pile of storage invoices. The present owner then bought the car through commission agent Rawles Motorsport. The car looked good but required a considerable amount of mechanical work to make it complete and reliable and has been developed with suitable retro-mods for today’s roads, such as fast road engine and LED lighting. Last year, the car was re-spayed in ‘Jaguar’ British Racing Green and de-bumpered. The car currently completes around 5,000 miles per year including various Club events and trips to Europe. A full story will be available with the car on the day of exhibition.
