My example also has a bit of a back story, having 7 previous owners up until that point I bought it 12 years ago. It had been passed about after its 25th year amongst people who were intent on modifying and “slamming” it. Indeed, I bought the car from a someone who had started lowering it. Ultimately, had I not bought it, it would likely have ended up on the banger racer circuit. In terms of the modifications already done when I bough the car. Although lowered and wearing custom wheels, nothing had been damaged and all the original parts and wheels were in the boot. So I immediately started putting it back to original “grandad specification”. Twelve years later, and still in my ownership, I’m glad I have it in 100% original factory form, as the car is now so rare. It’s never been restored – just touched in and painted here and there, which I prefer. It’s just like a well cared for 5 year old car – close to “immaculate” now.
Now I feel it has come of age to be appreciated by a wider audience. It attracts quite a bit of attention now because it’s so rare to find them in such a condition, or find them at all!
