Peugeot 306 RWD

Vehicle Reg No: Q914RFB
Year: 2001

I built the car between 1997 and 2001 and have been continuously developing it and using on special stage rallies over the past 23 years.
The car was built from a new Peugeot 306 Mk1 body shell which I converted to be rear wheel drive.
The rear end is based on Subaru Legacy and the front end on Sierra Cosworth.
The engine is a 1600cc twin can from a 1993 Toyota Corolla which has been modified several times over the years and in its current specification gives 200bhp and a peak of 144lbft of torque.
The car was built with a Ford Type 9 gearbox but since 2019 the gearbox has been a 6 Speed Quaife sequential. It was a retirement present from me to me.
The differential is from a Jaguar XJS and has an unusually low ratio of 6.22:1 which was originally fitted in a Thwaite dumper truck which used a modified Jaguar axle. I managed to source probably the last two new crown wheel and pinions in the world.
The car is a fully prepared forest rally car with all the internal and external modifications one would expect including a substantial roll cage, sump guard and underbody protection.

I am currently competing in 4 or 5 forest rallies a year mostly based in Wales and am registered in the Welsh Championship. I have finished second in this championship in the past two years but on my last event in April which was my first of the season I finished first in the class beating the crew that came first in class 2 years running. So, a good start to the season.
