Purchased as and Cat S write off earlier this year from a specialist auction site. Originally built in 1983 as an 850 Le Mans III by Moto Guzzi in Mandello del Lario on Lake Como in Northern Italy this is one of 50 specials built so far by the German company Kaffeemaschine. This is their 33rd machine and is believed to have built in or around 2022. Guzzi enthusiasts will recognise that this machine has the round barrels and heads of earlier marks compared to a standard MkIII (see other Le Mans versions on the stand). The engine capacity has been increased to 950cc and performance increased to 85HP. The bodywork has all been replaced with lighter components including a carbon fibre fuel tank and spoked rims replace the cast wheels fitted as standard with besboke switchgear and Moto Gadget electronic speedometer and rev counter etc. The bike is believed to have taken part in the exclusive Great Malle Rally last year. It is currently in the process of being restored to its former glory as may be seen in the accompanying photos. It is not entirely clear how or when the bike sustained damage but is believed to have been pushed over by another vehicle whilst parked, which is perhaps the only explanation for how a side stand can become bent, short of being sat on by an Elephant?
